- An elderly gentleman was referred to the firm to investigate a possible medical negligence case which resulted in an amputation of his leg. Since the malpractice had occurred on Ocean City, Maryland, and no one had ever successfully pursued a malpractice trial in that city, several law firms had rejected his case.
Once the necessary medical records had been obtained and evaluated, the firm filed a lawsuit for this gentleman. Despite the overwhelming evidence in favor of the client, the defense relied upon the fact that a patient had never won a lawsuit in that area of the state, refused to offer any money for settlement, and the gentleman's case went to trial. After long and hard deliberations, the jury returned a verdict of One Million ($1,000,000.00) for the gentleman the first, and largest, verdict ever rendered in a medical malpractice case in that part of the state.
- In the fall of 2000, Littlepage & Associates received a telephone call from the distressed family of a single Mother of three (3). When this Mother went to a prestigious Baltimore hospital for a minor surgical procedure, she had unexpectedly died, leaving her children as orphans, and her elderly mother with three children to raise and support.
Littlepage & Associates obtained the mother's medical records, which indicated obvious malpractice, and contacted the legal department of the hospital to discuss the malpractice. Within a few months of contacting Littlepage & Associates, the firm negotiated a settlement with the hospital which provided the family of the deceased with ample financial compensation for their loss.
